Anne is fully certified through the Pilates Method Alliance (PMA), is an active member of PMA, is an active member of the Tennessee Association of Dance (TAD), and has over 26 years of experience in the fitness and health industry. Her extensive background in dance performance, choreography, and teaching as well as theatre performance led her to embrace Pilates as a natural extension of her life. She holds a master’s degree and her course of study includes corporate training and communication, psychology, dance, fitness, and nutrition. Anne continues to pursue and enhance her knowledge of biomechanics and movement as well as subtle energy and its relationship to fascia.
Anne received mat training through Physical Mind; and, received comprehensive training in Reformer, Trap Table, Chair, and Barrels through Balanced Body University (BBU) in Atlanta and Asheville. She has done intensive study with notable individuals including second generation teachers Kyria Sabin, Rebecca Leone, and Michele Larsson (level 5, mobile spine, scoliosis); and, first generation teacher Jay Grimes, as well as with Kit Laughlin (stretch therapy). Having been accepted into Balanced Body University’s Passing the Torch™ exclusive Pilates mentorship program, Anne is very honored to have studied with first generation Pilates Master – Ron Fletcher. She continues study of Fletcher work including use of his signature Fletcher Towelwork® and Percussive Breathing™. Anne is one of only a few licensed Fletcher providers in the southeast.
Anne has a gentle and challenging style; and, she enjoys working with all types of clients – very young to very old, male and female, those with back or hip issues, as well as dancers and athletes. Drawing from all elements of her very diverse experience, she considers herself a movement therapist. She is passionate about her work and her goal is to help others achieve a sustainable way of life through the Pilates method – nourishing and prolonging one’s authentic body and spirit.
