What is Restorative Movement?

Do you ever have weird body aches that interfere with your life? Or maybe scoliosis, knee pain, or back pain?

Restorative Movement may be the missing piece of the puzzle.

Restorative Movement sessions draw upon and include modalities such as Fascia Stretch Therapy™ (FST), the Smartspine™ System, Restorative Exercise, Core Intelligence, and Pilates.

Using these different tools, I’ll work with you to develop a specific movement plan to create relief and help alleviate the problem and its pains.

My goal is to empower you with new tools to help you make lasting changes to your whole body and your movement health for the rest of your life, not just for a few weeks or months.

A Restorative Movement session is a great place to start if you have a specific movement goal or an issue such as scoliosis, knee pain, or back pain.

But you needn’t be experiencing pain to benefit from Restorative Movement work.

And, if you aren’t sure where to start but know you’re ready to make changes to your alignment and movement patterns, I’ll help you explore where you currently are and where you want to be and then assist you in establishing the best possible process and goals.

If you’re interested in improving your gait, getting rid of mystery pains, and/or improving your flexibility while honoring your current flexibility boundaries, these sessions are for you.

We Don’t Move the Way We Used To

Since we don’t have to use our bodies the way we once did—working the land, foraging for food, climbing and hunting—we don’t get the range of movement our bodies need today for optimal health. In fact, we get so little movement in modern life that we are starving for healthy physical activity and it’s literally immobilizing us.

While the technology we enjoy has made life easier in a lot of ways, it’s also really hurt us. Our daily inactive and sedentary lifestyle has caused many people to lose specific movement capabilities in their spines, pelvis, feet, shoulders, ankles, and knees.

In our culture, this loss of mobility is written off as a normal part of the aging process, but this is a wildly inaccurate way to think about normal human aging. In fact, you have the capacity to regain lost mobility and improve your alignment far beyond what most of us consider possible these days.

As long as you’re alive, your cells are regenerating, and your body has the amazing capability to adapt and restore many of its former abilities and ranges of motion.

You Don’t Have to Accept Loss of Mobility as Normal

The current state of your body is an accumulation of how you used or not used it until now. As soon as you consistently begin to change how you move, your body will start to adapt!

Restorative Movement sessions identify your current alignment, ease of movement, and comfort and help you discover an optimal path to improve all movement and establish a new, optimal level of movement experience.

In addition to the corrective exercises you’ll do during your session time, I’ll also provide you with specific exercises to do at home.

When you commit to improving your alignment and mobility with simple at-home exercises in addition to your studio sessions, you’ll be surprised by how fast you can improve and restore the movement health in your body.

Restorative Movement sessions are tailored to your specific needs and goals. No two people’s protocols are exactly alike, and I’m excited to find out what your unique solution is and get you on the road to optimal movement health!
