The Missing Link in Core Strength: Are You Overlooking This?

Somewhere along the line, you’ve probably heard that having a strong core is important.

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, core strength surged in popularity and became the go-to solution for a lot of problems.

Back pain?

“You need to strengthen your core.”

Want better posture?

“You need a strong core.”

Want better balance?

“Strengthen your core.”

While the fitness world focused on strengthening the core, it overlooked an essential key to core health: mobility.

The pliability of the muscles and soft tissue between your ribs and hips is just as crucial as strength for overall core health.

If you only strengthen your core without stretching and moving it, you can inadvertently create too much tension and tightness in your waist.

What’s wrong with a tense and tight waist?

A tense and tight waist is also a stuck waist.

When your waist gets stuck, so do your pelvis and ribcage, which limits your ability to move and affects the way you walk.

In today’s video, you’ll learn an alignment point to watch for in a standing side stretch.

After you check it out, I’d love to know how it goes! You can reply to this email or leave a comment below to tell me.
