Ease Your Neck Tension with this Surprisingly Simple Solution

Today’s video is inspired by a class I taught in my Active Alignment mat class last year.

Three women in class shared similar issues:

  • Chronic neck tension
  • Neck immobility
  • Headaches
  • Back tightness

As they described their experiences and what they’d tried for relief (chiropractic care, massage, ibuprofen, stretching, etc.), it occurred to me I’d never gone into detail about how breathing affects the neck. This seemed like the perfect opportunity.

The entire class that day focused on breathing and the neck, and afterward, this is what the participants had to say:

“Oh my gosh, I never realized how much I use my neck to breathe. This was revolutionary.”

“Holy cow, my neck tenses with everything I do. As soon as you mentioned ‘neck breathing,’ I was able to relax my neck (even though I caught myself tensing it up again).”

“It’s never occurred to me that how I breathe could make my neck tight. Everything feels more relaxed now.”

Improving the way you breathe helps everything else feel better. It just does.
